Community Initiatives
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has revolutionized lives and
turned the world into a "global village". While most of us are reaping the
benefits in this new world of technology-induced development, there are sections
of our society that are yet to see the benefits of this development. We firmly
believe that "education" is the only means of filling this gap.
"Going beyond business to make a meaningful difference to the
communities in which we operate, through the education of underprivileged
children and youth" is the guiding philosophy of the Corporate Social
Responsibility initiatives by Aricent. Our CSR program ceaselessly works towards
empowering individuals through education and training, with an emphasis on
information and communication technology.
In collaboration with local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Aricent
supports government and private schools catering to the deprived and
disadvantaged sections of the society. For example, we have built two infotech
laboratories at the Carterpuri Government School in Haryana (India) and donated
other critical resources to make these labs functional. Every year, about 500
students receive basic and advanced training in computers in these labs. Aricent
also contributes, regularly, a significant amount towards infrastructure
development at the school.
The schools receive financial aid in the form of a corporate donation as well
as funds collected through our payroll-giving program. It is an online program
through which employees pledge a certain amount of their salary towards our
community activities.
Another example of our community initiatives is our financial support towards
Dipalo School of Information and Communication Technology to buy equipment for a
training course in network installation. Dipalo is a non-profit organization in
Soweto, South Africa providing free ICT training for school children, unemployed
matriculates and post-graduates.
These are just few of the projects that Aricent supports. Our other centers
do similar work in collaboration with their local NGOs.
In addition to this, Aricent employees also volunteer their time for various
CSR activities. For example, "iCAN", a reach-out club, comprises Aricentians who
have come together to realize their shared dream of enhancing the quality of
life of the underprivileged through education. Members of the club devote part
of their time interacting, counseling and educating these children.
Other philanthropic efforts encompass a host of activities such as disaster
relief, organizing blood donation camps, participating in marathon runs and
collection drives.
Go Green!
Melting glaciers, greenhouse gas emissions, rising CO2 levels, depleting
water table, global warming are just a few of the environmental issues that are
screaming for attention. As a good corporate citizen, Aricent recognizes its
responsibility towards the environment and is committed to protect and conserve
it.
Aricent's "Go Green" campaign has been conceptualized to honor our commitment
towards the environment. Green IT, The Green Brigade- a blog
on our Intranet site that allows experience sharing on environmentally safe
practices, awareness drives, etc. are only a few of the initiatives that form a
part of this campaign.
It is a matter of immense pride that we are committed to make Aricent a
socially responsible organization in its true sense and spirit.
