MSBG Solutions to Accelerate Delivery of
Converged Access for Small and Medium Businesses
Palo Alto, CA and Las Vegas NV, Apr 28, 2008 -
Aricent, the communications software company, announced today that it
has partnered with a group of leading technology companies and original
equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to form the communications industry's
first Multi-Service Business Gateway (MSBG) Alliance. The primary
mission of the new alliance is to accelerate the development of MSBG
systems and complete solutions for service providers.
MSBGs combine voice, video and data communications in a single multi-service
broadband platform, replacing the need for separate PBX, routers, firewalls,
gateways, cable modems, VPN and other security appliances. MSBGs are designed to
simplify the communications equipment for small and medium sized businesses
(SMBs) and remote branch offices (RBOs) of large enterprises. The MSBG Alliance
was built around the Aricent Converged Access Solution (CAS) and a number of
additional partners to be announced during Interop 2008. Aricent and the
Alliance members will showcase MSBG solutions, at the LSI booth, Palm H, April
28 - May 1 in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Aricent, the first application software provider in the Alliance, has
developed Aricent CAS for MSBGs, a software product that combines SIP-based VoIP
services, virtual private networking (VPN) and security, Wi-Fi access, quality
of service (QOS), LAN switching, IPv4 routing, WAN access and network management
into a single compact gateway solution.
"We're proud to be a co-founder and the first applications software provider
in the MSBG Alliance. This Alliance has the capability to deliver products that
enable businesses of all sizes to tame the complexity in their communications
systems," said Sajal Gupta, Head of Products, Aricent. "We are delighted that
the Aricent Converged Access Solution is proving to be a foundation for the MSBG
market. Our ongoing relationship with LSI has opened up the opportunity to
partner with more companies that are integral to the production and distribution
of MSBGs."
"Aricent has a unique offering for the MSBG software market today with the
Aricent Converged Access Solution," said Charlie Kawwas, vice president of
segment marketing for the Network and Storage Products Group, LSI. "We're happy
to be jointly delivering our first OEM product powered by Aricent CAS at
Interop. The MSBG Alliance launch will ensure that more companies can benefit
from the Aricent CAS solution."
On Tuesday, April 29 at 10 a.m. at Reef E Charlie Kawwas, and Tony Pereira,
business leader, Business Communications Portfolio, Nortel Networks will present
the session, "Managed Services: The Real-Time Tipping Point." During the
session, they will discuss the new services enabled by the application of MSBG
