DIAMETER is a signaling protocol based on the Internet
Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the 3GPP standards to perform AAA
functions in IMS networks. The Aricent Diameter Stack is built upon a
distributed architecture that allows its use across single as well as
multiple servers.
An application extension is an additional specification
added by the 3GPP over and above the base DIAMETER protocol to allow its
usage in multiple application domains. Aricent has a strong road map for
DIAMETER in line with its corporate strategy of being a leader the IMS
domain. Aricent plans to offer one major and one minor release of DIAMETER
every year, adding new functionalities and upgrading compliance to the
latest specifications.
