IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Convergence Lab

The IMS network comprises a wide variety of network elements from different manufacturers that need to inter-work effectively to support multiple applications. A major challenge faced by equipment vendors is to test their IMS solutions for end-to-end convergence across different access technologies.

The Aricent IMS Convergence Lab demonstrates solutions for customers facing issues related to convergence implementation and integration. Our working environment can demonstrate real-world performance and answer all your concerns.

Aricent’s IMS Test Lab Capabilities

The IMS test lab includes real network nodes (Aricent and 3rd party products) and IMS test tool emulators. This enables it to offer a full range of tests for any aspect of an IMS product, application or service. The key capabilities offered by the lab include:

  • IMS Lab Testing: Aricent offers the ability to replace any IMS network node by IUT. As only the node for testing is replaced, existing test cases and scenarios can be reused and automated.
  • Heterogeneity: Ability to demonstrate end-to-end convergence across heterogeneous networks such as IMS Core, Mobile Core (2G/3G), VoIP Intranet with WiFi, Wireline, Femto, PSTN, etc.)
  • Complete Testing Suite: Test offerings cover the entire spectrum of conformance, performance and interoperability testing.
  • Device Variety: A wide variety of devices and services are supported, which demonstrate the interplay of voice, video, data and mobility.
  • Service Variety: IMS and convergence services such as end-to-end IMS- IMS calls, Presence, Privacy, Voice Call Continuity, Handoff, Roaming, etc. are supported.
  • End-to-End Solutions: Testing in an end-to-end environment enables vendors to identify behavioral diversity and aberrations of standards in nodes, resolve conflicts arising from the diverse ‘interpretation’ of convergence specifications in components, as well as test the IMS readiness of components.

Key Benefits

  • End-to-End Testing for Equipment Vendors: For telecom equipment vendors, Aricent’s IMS test lab offers a unique opportunity to perform end-to-end testing on their equipment under a converged architecture (across heterogeneous access networks, multi protocol implementations, FMC services).
  • Anticipatory Performance Testing for Service Providers: Aricent’s lab enables anticipatory performance testing for vendor nodes as well as end-to-end testing from the entire network perspective.
  • Evaluation of Network Deployment Issues: The complete network environment allows service providers to address issues such as network performance (latency, voice quality, retransmission, etc.), security, QoS, policy, and network address translation.
