Innovation Lab

Massive advances in mobile devices and connected consumer electronics, new wireless broadband technologies like Femtocell, WiMAX and LTE, and – most importantly – a wave of Web 2.0 and cloud-based services are driving the significant evolution of OSS / BSS implementation by carriers. This is not without its challenges.

Aricent’s Innovation Lab is aimed at helping service providers overcome a number of significant challenges, including:

  • Integrating and commercializing new SOA enabled OSS / BSS solutions based on COTS platforms: To meet the huge growth in the subscriber base, operators (particularly green field operators in emerging markets) look for cost effective, pre-packaged solutions that are highly scalable. Aricent’s proven solutions can be implemented quickly and offer the flexibility to tweak business models.
  • Deploying 4G: As operators look to deploy the latest 4G technologies like WiMAX and LTE, supporting and experimenting with new business models is a key requirement that demands a highly flexible OSS / BSS system. Aricent’s lab provides a flexible, cost effective way to determine the feasibility of new technologies and solutions that involve multiple vendors.
  • Delivering and monetizing Web 2.0 and cloud-based services: As carriers look to open up their network and embrace cloud services by offering SaaS solutions, they need to partner with external vendors to integrate network APIs to deliver next generation context aware services like location based social networking, mobile gaming etc. There is a critical need for creating a back office infrastructure that that makes it simple for third  party application providers to monetize and roll out services.
