UMTS Femtocell Physical Layer Feature Enhancement and DSP Platform Migration for a Tier-1 OEM

The customer, a leading Tier-1 OEM based in North America, providing Femtocell infrastructure solutions wanted to enhance its UMTS Femtocell product, reorganize the baseband system and migrate from its ADI TigerSharc platform to a new CEVA platform. It was looking for a vendor who would help in the evaluation of the design and architecture as well as assist in complete platform migration and testing.

Aricent Solution

Aricent worked closely with the customer to address these challenges. Drawing on the deep domain expertise of it consultants and engineers, Aricent was able to develop a cost- effective, optimal and solution ahead of schedule. Key components of the solution included:

  • Identification of fundamental design issues and performance bottlenecks in the platform architecture and providing assistance to improve the architecture
  • Reduction of real time requirement of processing resources to one-third of the earlier requirements
  • Completion of platform migration of all functionalities from the ADI TigerSharc 201 platform to the CEVA-X1620 platform
  • Testing and optimization of the new CEVA platform
  • Providing complete ownership from sub-system integration to testing of the Physical layer

Results

Aricent helped the customer successfully complete platform migration with minimal iterations.
