Automotive
Auto manufacturers are making extensive use of communications technologies in vehicles, making them a central hub for infotainment - along with home and workplace - of a person's digital life.
The Connected Vehicle
In adopting connectivity technologies, auto manufacturers on 3-5 year innovation cycles struggle to keep pace with the much more rapid rate of change in communications and consumer electronics industries that are now impacting how customers experience their products. They must stay agile as new standards emerge and gain popularity, and be efficient with their integration and implementation methods. The Aricent Group offers a range of software that makes this challenge easier, covering digital audio and video, telematics, navigation, wireless and satellite communications, and automotive diagnostic tools.
But there's little point in implementing a specific feature or technology if it's not in line with market trends, competitively differentiated, or perceived as valuable by customers. The same holds true if it cannot be deployed on time, on budget, and with the necessary reliability. Our services and experience with global OEMs and Tier 1s support intelligent decision-making around all these factors.

Accelerating In-Car Integration of Media Devices
The Aricent Group worked with a leading German manufacturer of automotive components and sound systems to create an audio gateway that allowed integration of iPods and USB-based devices into the car experience. Aricent's software frameworks reduced time to market by 50% and costs by 40%. Learn more
Connected Infrastructure
Connected cars require connected infrastructure, and nowhere is this more relevant than with electric vehicles (EVs). The range limitations of pure EVs mean that awareness of the surroundings and nearby charge points, and helping the driver be smarter about trip planning, require a different paradigm of 2-way integration between car and infrastructure.
Furthermore, the electrical grid is now part of the car's infrastructure. As EVs become more popular, utilities will need to deal with a heavy new source of electricity drain. It is critical that this can be managed in a way that does not outpace the build-out of smarter electrical grids.
Making EV Chargers Consumer- and Grid-Friendly
The Aricent Group worked with Ecotality, a leading maker of electric vehicle chargers, to create the Blink system of chargers for home and street. The Blink system features color touchscreens that deliver relevant charging and pricing information, third-party media. Units are connected to the Ecotality network, the Web, and smartphones, and can be integrated into municipal smart grid systems.
