Mobile Number Portability Gateway
Aricent’s Mobile Number Portability Gateway (MNPGW) enables local number portability for operators in different countries. The operators share the ported number database amongst themselves and route signaling messages according to the database. MNPGW resides in the operator’s network and provides end-to-end number porting activities (Port-In, Port-Out, Number termination etc.) for both prepaid and postpaid subscribers. MNPGW handles Mobile Number Portability (MNP) requests, both at the new operator’s network (Recipient) and at the old operator’s network (Donor), integrates with Customer Relationship Modules (CRM) and MNP clearing house (MCH) for porting activities, and supports multiple technologies like CDMA, GSM, PSTN etc. MNPGW has the following interface modules:
- OSS Gateway (OSSGW) – The module interfaces with CRM and MCH network nodes for execution of port requests (both as recipient and as donor)
- Local Service Management System (LSMS) – The module receives the broadcast messages from the MCH on completion of negotiation/activation phases. The interface between LSMS and MCH is SOAP/XML over HTTP
- Local Number Portability Database (LNPDB) – The module stores the routing number of the subscriber in the local database that will be used for generating the port history of ported subscriber
- Signaling Transfer Point (STP) Client – This module allows the routing number received through broadcast messages to be updated in the STP node during the porting phase and calls are routed accordingly
- Graphical User Interface (GUI) – MNPGW has a web based GUI for application configuration and remote management, and to view reports related to the porting activity (port report -daily, monthly, port history of a subscriber etc.)
Features
- MNPGW has a flexible protocol conversion engine that supports multiple application interfaces/proprietary protocols like SOAP/XML, CORBA, HTTP, Socket, FTP, SFTP, CMISE etc. for faster integration capabilities
- MNPGW facilitates flexibility in the database engine; the insertion/modification of network data related port transactions can be stored in the database
- MNPGW supports multiple LIVE Number Portability Database (NPDB) updates, Local Number Portability Database (LNPDB) update modes, and asynchronous / synchronous update of multiple databases to manage ported out/ported in numbers for effective call routing
- MNPGW has a comprehensive web-based GUI for record viewing, addition, deletion, modification and role-based user-right control
- MNPGW supports notification mechanisms through alarm, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) based trap generation, SMS, and e-mail alerts for maintaining number portability operations
Benefits
- The solution offers faster, ready to market integration capabilities with supported interfaces
- The solution is integrated with centralized Mobile Number Portability Clearing House, Telcordia and Syniverse, through standard web services over SOAP/XML
- Flexible error logging results in reliable and error-free communications amongst trading partners
- Strongly controlled data leads to improved customer service
- Comprehensive web based GUI for Alarm configuration and SNMP trap generation for notifications to third party NMS systems for managing operator’s network operations
